Excelsior Youth Center is grateful to the volunteers who serve on the Excelsior Board of Directors and share their expertise so that Excelsior may be the most successful organization possible and provide the highest quality treatment program.

Jim Peters
Joined Operations Board
on January 18, 2007
- Jim brings a wide-ranging background in juvenile justice, law enforcement, and community involvement to the Board. Jim currently presides over Revocation Hearings as an Administrative Law Hearing Officer for the Colorado Parole Board and is also involved as a legal consultant on cases involving crime victims, juveniles, and domestic violence.
- A native Coloradoan, Mr. Peters is a graduate of Regis High School in Denver and attended Marquette University, Schiller International University in Heidelberg, Germany, and the University of Colorado School of Law. As a high school student, Jim attended dances and socialized with residents of Excelsior's predecessor entity, the Good Shepherd Home.
- Following law school, Mr. Peters joined the 18th Judicial District Attorney's office (Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties) and prosecuted traffic, misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony cases involving serious sexual assaults, child abuse, complex white collar crimes, and first degree murders for over 20 years. In 1996 and again in 2000 Jim was elected as the District Attorney for the Judicial District. As District Attorney, Mr. Peters directed a number of programs that focused on adolescents. In addition to a Juvenile Prosecution Unit, Mr. Peters spearheaded a Juvenile Diversion Program, a Special Habitual Juvenile Offender Program, and collaboratively created a Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) to identify and intervene with at-risk and juvenile delinquents at an early stage.
- Mr. Peters currently serves as the Chairman of the Governor's Executive Clemency Advisory Board and as a Commissioner on Colorado's Access to Justice Commission. He is on the Board of Directors of the Sky Cliff Stroke Recovery and Adult Care Center and the Board of the Denver Regional Explorer Scout Program. Jim and his wife have a son studying at Santa Clara University. He enjoys skiing and spectator sports and the human interaction involved in Colorado's political system.

- Implementation of benefits practice growth strategy for Denver and the Rocky Mountain region. 30 year insurance background includes over 22 years an insurance broker/ consultant in employee benefits, and 8 years in the executive sales role for 3 insurance carriers, all based in the Rocky Mountain region. Helps employers develop long-term strategic wellness plans to control their health care spend by reducing claims utilization at the consumer level.
- Current member of the Colorado and Boulder Human Resources Associations, and is licensed in 18 states.
- Dennis has been an active member of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board in 1998, and had chaired the Membership Council for 5 consecutive years. In 1994 he led a group that established the Chamber Health plan for its members. He is currently a member of the Health Care Committee.
- A Chicago native, Dennis and his wife, Jane, a practicing psychiatrist, have lived in Denver for over 30 years, and have two sons in high school. They are active skiers, snowboarders and golfers.

Jerry Maglio has been a successful senior marketing with many involvements in the media and entertainment field over a 30 year period. He most recently was executive vice president of marketing for Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG).
Prior to coming to SEG, Maglio served as the top marketing executive with three cable companies- American Television & Communications (now Time Warner Cable), Daniels & Associates, and United Artists Cable. At the latter two, he also was responsible for negotiating network programming contracts. Maglio was the founding president of Rainbow Programming Services Inc. in 1980.
In 1991 he formed Maglio & Associates, Inc., a Denver-based investment, entrepreneurial, and consulting firm that has provided strategic assistance to a wide range of clients in the media industry,
Maglio won both the Vanguard Award for Marketing from the National Cable & Telecommunications Association and the One-of-a-Kind Award from Cable and Telecommunications, a Marketing Society. Maglio served as the volunteer president of CTAM in 1981.
Prior to his cable career, Maglio served as Club Manager of the Doubleday & Company's flagship profit center, The Literary Guild of America, plus the International Collector's Library.
Maglio, a native of White Plains, New York, received his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and his Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University.

Molly Ross is currently President and Co-Owner of her family's two mineral management companies, Deltex Royalty Company, Inc. and LMA Royalties, Ltd. She is also President of Swift Wings Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to spreading the message of hope for a sustainable future and partnering with other organizations working on sustainability initiatives.
Prior to her current positions, Molly worked in the commercial
advertising business, as an Art Director, Account Manager, Production Manager,
and Graphic Designer. She has held positions at Amber Sky Illustrators and
Channel 4 (KCNC) Television, Mercy Medical Center, Molly Ross Design and Schwing/Walsh,
Inc. Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations. She has also freelanced
and designed for numerous for profit and not-for-profit organizations. She
has won several awards for design and illustration from the American Marketing
Association and the Public Relations Society of America. Molly has also
worked as a metalsmith and jewelry designer, and is currently a sculptor.
Molly has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector. Her current positions include Rachel's Network Board of Directors, Sierra Club Foundation Board of Directors, American Solar Energy Society Board of Trustees, American Farmland Trust National Advisory Council/President's Council and Idanha Films Board of Directors. She was a former Board Co-Chair of ArtReach, President of the Junior League of Denver, Steering Committee Chair of the Denver Urban Resources Partnership (USDA), and a Founder and Board President of the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility. Her non-profit experience includes strategic planning, marketing and PR, board governance, fundraising, advocacy, and event planning.
Molly lives in a solar home she uses as a retreat center for non-profits, and enjoys hiking, camping, travel and horseback riding.

Initially Wendy joined Excelsior's Ever Upward Gala committee in 2005
and served as co-chair of the Gala committee for three years-2006, 2007, and 2008.
In 2006, Wendy joined Excelsior's Foundation Board; served as Secretary/Treasurer
during fiscal year 2009; and resigned in 2010, in order to focus attention on
a substantial business project. In 2007, Wendy joined the Board of Directors
and is currently in her second term.

Wendy has nearly 25
years in the cable and satellite industries, spanning management/leadership responsibilities
for business and information technology teams focused on subscriber billing, as
well as, computer system upgrades/conversions, given mergers/acquisitions and
business transformation projects.

Wendy led the
Alliance of Profession Women's Outreach program in 2005 and has held various positions
on two Homeowner Association Boards in FL and CO.

Zelda M. DeBoyes, Ph.D.
Dr. DeBoyes brings a history of success in organizational leadership and management to the Board. She is skilled in developing and expanding strategic alliances and spheres of influence, outstanding people management skills resulting in productive, effective teams.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Metropolitan State College, Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado and a PhD in Higher Education from the University of Denver.
Previously, Dr. DeBoyes worked as a Management Analyst for the State Court Administrator’s Office in Denver, an Operating Section Manager for Denver County Courts. Currently, she is the Court Administrator for Aurora Municipal Courts, reporting directly to the Aurora City Council with responsibility for the divisional operations of Case Management, Probation, the Marshals Division, the Detention Facility, Jury Services and Court Information Technology.
A Board Member for Aurora-Montbello Community Resource Board (BBBS), Dr. DeBoyes also is the Chairperson for the Juanita Ross Gray Community Service Committee and a Board Member with the Denver Public Library. Additionally she is a graduate and volunteer with the African American Leadership Institute, a Past President of the Lowry Family Center Advisory Board and a Past Chairperson for the Northeast Women’s Center Advisory Board. Brief work history :
Bill worked fro 25 years in the securities industry. He was a Partner with
Eastman Dillon in New York and was a Managing Director with Merrill Lynch in New
York. In Denver, Bill was President of Bosworth Sullivan. Bill’s
extensive knowledge of stocks, bonds and finance make him invaluable on Excelsior’s
Finance Committee for the Foundation Board.

Dr. Mary Shay 
Mary
has worked inpublic education for the past 17 years as a teacher, assistant principal,
and principal. She came to Colorado in 1997 after completing her Master's Degree
from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Her experiences as a practitioner
range from working in a wide variety of settings that include urban and suburban
school districts. She has worked in both elementary and secondary schools. Mary
has experience in school settings which perform in the top 10% on state on standardized
assessments, racially and ethnically integrated settings, schools with highly
involved parent communities, and in learning communities where over half of her
students were eligible for free or reduced meals.
Mary graduated in
December 2009 with her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
from the University of Northern Colorado. Her personal and professional mission
is to ensure that ALL students realize their maximum potential, and through her
experiences, she knows that school makes significant impact on students' success.
To this end, she completed her doctoral dissertation titled, An Investigation
of the Attitudes, Beliefs, and Values of Elementary School Teachers Toward Race
and Schooling.
Mary is active in a variety of community organizations
and is on Colorado's Advisory Committee for D-FER (Democrats for Education Reform).She
has participated on host committees for Salon du Musee at the Denver Art Museum,
the Biennial of the Americas Opening Night Gala at Civic Center Park, and Girl's
Night Out at Curious Theater Company.
