Excelsior Youth Center, Inc. has received
accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families
and Children, Inc. (COA), according to an announcement by William
C. Gregory, Executive Director of the organization, which is located
at 15001 East Oxford Avenue, Aurora, CO.
Accreditation attests that an organization is meeting the highest
national standards and provides assurance that the organization is
performing services which the community needs, conducting its operations
safely and effectively and managing its funds wisely. David
S. Liederman, President and Chief Executive Officer of COA
said, "I am delighted that Excelsior Youth Center, Inc.
has Joined COA's Community of Excellence and is committed to providing
needed quality services to the children, youth and families in Colorado."
The accreditation process involves an in-depth detailed examination
of the organization's operation, including personnel, safety, fiscal,
and programs management.
COA is an independent, non-profit, internationally recognized accreditor
of mental health and social service organizations in the United States
and Canada. COA is sponsored by Alliance for Children and Families,
Association of Jewish Family and Children's Agencies, Catholic Charities
USA, Child Welfare League of America, Foster Family-based Treatment
Association, Lutheran Services in America, National Council for Adoption,
National Foundation for Consumer Credit, National Network for Youth,
and Prevent Child Abuse America.
COA's accreditation is endorsed by the National Alliance for the
Mentally Ill, a leading consumer advocacy group, and the following
organizations: American Association of Children's Residential
Centers, American Network of Community Options and Resources, Child
Welfare League of Canada, EAGLE Program of the United Methodist Association
of Health and Welfare Ministries, Joint Council on International Children's
Services, Mental Health Corporations of America, Inc. National Association
of Psychiatric Treatment Centers for Children, National Association
of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors, National Association of
