Since 1973 Excelsior Youth Center has provided effective treatment for adolescent girls, ages 11-18 (up to age 21 with court-order or state approved waiver), who have struggled with social and emotional problems. Situated on a 33-acre campus overlooking the Rocky Mountains in the Denver-Metro Area, Excelsior provides a Continuum of Care that includes Short and Long Term Residential Treatment, Day Treatment, Short Term Intensive Residential Treatment, Respite, Outpatient and Home-Based Services.
Under the framework of Reality Therapy, girls participate in a comprehensive treatment program which uses strength-based goals and objectives and includes individual, group and family counseling designed to promote effective and healthy choices as well personal responsibility. Treatment is facilitated by experienced staff including: psychiatrists, psychologists, master's level psychotherapists and direct care staff. Additionally, Excelsior provides a fully accredited on-campus school with licensed teachers and educational diagnosticians, small classes, behavioral support, tutoring and a bullying prevention program. Excelsior works with a diverse population of adolescent girls from Colorado and out-of-state referred by Child Welfare Agencies, Probation Departments, School Districts, and private individuals. Excelsior's facility is "staff-secure" and staff are trained to work effectively with girls that are struggling with self-harm and behaviors that are considered dangerous. Excelsior's treatment program is highly individualized to the needs of the client and her family.

- certified by the California Department of Social Services

- certified by the Colorado Department of Education
- and accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
Strength Based Care
Excelsior staff members develop positive relationships with students and work with each girl to identify, encourage, practice and maximize her individual strengths. While setting firm, fair limits and structure, Excelsior’s staff provides a safe environment and positive support as each girl learns how to make healthy choices and accomplish her treatment goals.
Gender Specific Programming
Excelsior has provided care to young women exclusively since 1973 setting them apart from other treatment facilities as an option that truly caters to the specific needs and issues young women face. The staff is well trained to help these young women with overcoming self-esteem issues, promoting self sufficiency, coping skills, overcoming relational aggression, developing healthy relationships and more.
