Outpatient Services
Excelsior's Community Based Services
Program includes Outpatient Services
Day Treatment and Short Term Intensive Residential Treatment. Outpatient
services are an important component of Excelsior's continuum of care
and are designed to prevent or reduce the need for placement of the
adolescent out of the home or community. Working from a Strength Based
Care philosophy, the treatment team works with the client and her
family to develop a treatment plan that is individualized to their
needs and comprehensive in identifying sustainable community and family
resources.
What client is appropriate
Clients
that are struggling with mental health problems or family systems issues and may
be at risk for hospitalization or out of home placement.
Clients that may be stepping down from a high level of care such as psychiatric hospitalization or residential treatment and need continued mental health services and support.
What client is NOT appropriate
Clients that are actively suicidal and require hospitalization or
meet criteria for a higher level of care (ie: residential treatment
and psychiatric hospitalization).
Services
Treatment services include individual and
family therapy, psychiatric services (optional), medical evaluation, mental health
assessment, safety planning, discharge/aftercare planning. In-home behavior coaching
and/or counseling, parenting skills training, crisis intervention/counseling and
connecting with community resources and supports. EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy
(DBT), Substance abuse counseling are optional.

Greater Denver-Metro Area. All other areas considered case by case.

Referrals and Admissions
Referrals are accepted from county human services agencies, school
districts, mental health centers, juvenile courts and families placing
privately by contacting the Admissions Department at Excelsior.
